The Hinge of Everything

Jesus was asked, “What’s the most important commandment?” His answer came down to two things: Love God with everything you have, and love your neighbor as yourself.

Those two commands are the hinges everything else hangs on.

But Jesus knows we don’t always get this right. We struggle to put God first, and some neighbors are much easier to love than others. The good news is that Jesus doesn’t just tell us to love. He loves us first and helps us learn to love like he does.

So this week, start small. Ask God to help you love him more fully, and think of one person who is hard for you to love. Want something good for them, and then do something good for them.

Love God. Love your neighbor. Trust Jesus to help you do both.
