Whose Face Is on You?

The message explores Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 22 about “rendering unto Caesar,” showing that Jesus’ real point is about image and ownership. Caesar’s image is on the coin, so the coin belongs to him — but God’s image is on humanity, so our lives belong to God. The sermon traces how this truth exposes the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and Herodians, reveals the brokenness of God’s image in us, and shows how Christ restores that image through his death, resurrection, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. It concludes with four calls: be faithful citizens without giving ultimate loyalty to earthly powers, honor God’s image in every person, trust the gospel to restore what is broken, and give God what is truly his — yourself.
